Are Cancer Policies Right For You

Cancer policies are a fast growing type of insurance policy that helps to protect you in the event you’re ever diagnosed with a type of cancer. While these are just supplemental policies, they can help to pay for travel expenses, lost wages, and much more in the event you can’t work. As you try to decide whether cancer policies might be right for your family members, you may want to consider the following:

??? Does the policy pay for everything? Understanding exactly what the cancer policies you’re considering cover is a must. Good policies will offer you either a lump sum of cash or ongoing payments for hospital stays, travel expenses, and doctors’ visits as well as other treatments. Learning a bit more about what is excluded from your potential policies is a must.

??? Can cancer-related illnesses be covered? Many people don’t realize this, but cancer doesn’t stop at that one diagnosis. Instead, other serious problems can occur after the diagnosis. From infections to diabetes to even pneumonia, learning whether or not your benefits extend to the conditions you’ll be dealing with after cancer is important. In the event you look at cancer policies that pay you a lump sum of cash on diagnosis, you’re probably looking at a good bit of money to help cover these additional health problems. If you look at policies that only pay out on certain expenses, that may not be the case.

??? Will my major medical policy work with this policy? When you’re looking at cancer policies, it’s good to investigate whether the two insurance companies will play nicely together. In some cases, your major medical policy may hold out on coverage with the hope that the other company will cover certain things. Find out how the two companies will work together before you make any purchases.

??? Do I have to wait for coverage? The bottom line is that you can’t get cancer policies to cover you after you’re diagnosed. That said, however, in some cases, you may have a fairly long waiting period before you’re diagnosed. Some have a waiting period of up to thirty days. Others may make you wait six months. Look at the total waiting time and find out if the policy expires in a certain amount of time as well.

As with any type of insurance, there will always be fine print in the many cancer policies available today. Make certain you know as much as you can before you buy the policy you need.…

All About Breast Cancer Research And Treatment

Breast cancer is considered as a killer disease and it is known to be the top cause of cancer death among women. According to American cancer society, about 1.3 million new breast cancer cases are diagnosed on an annually basis which includes 465,000 deaths. In order to successfully tackle this devastating disease, we must encourage innovative scientists to study cancer at its most basic level. In other words, breast cancer research work should be conducted at its molecular level. Also, besides the governments, private organizations should provide flexible funding to scientists who will be conducting breast cancer research work. Proper funding of breast cancer research projects; can not only lead to better prevention strategies but it can also help towards earlier diagnostic techniques and new anticancer drugs and treatments.

A world renowned cancer researcher, named Lothar Hirneise has come to an understanding that cancer exist with stress. He is of the opinion that when the mind is under constant stress, the body then produces high levels of stress hormone called Cortisol. The immune system gets suppressed with high levels of Cortisol in the body. Also, a stressed mind will release out Adrenaline to an extent of depletion. People suffering from cancer are found to be having almost no adrenaline in their cells. In fact, cells of cancer patients are often overloaded with insulin and plenty of sugar. Another leading German cancer researcher by the name of ?Ryke-Geerd Hamer has gone through twenty thousand cancer patients and found a direct relationship between psycho-emotional conflict and cancer patients. This occurs between 1 to 3 years, prior to cancer diagnosis and cancer forming within the body. Cancer patients, who have experienced a psycho ? emotional conflict shock, in the form of loss of a loved one etc, few years prior to their cancer urine, has experienced emotional pain and stress within themselves. Such a state of mind can have an adverse effect on the immune system of the person?s body.

Recently, researchers who are working towards breast cancer research project, have developed and successfully tested a breast cancer vaccine which is likely to treat women with treatment ? resistant HER2 ? positive breast cancer and thus be able to prevent cancer re ? occurrence. Breast cancer researchers look forward to use HER2 DNA vaccines for cancer ? free women, in order to prevent initial development of such tumours. At present, therapies such as trastuzumab and lapatimib are used towards treating breast cancer patients. However, it was lately noticed that a huge group of patients develop a resistance towards trastuzumab and lapatimib. HER2 receptors are known to promote a particularly aggressive type of tumour that affects about thirty percent of breast cancer patients.

The new breast cancer vaccine is produced by the body?s own cells. It delivers a cancer fighting gene into cells, which then produce immune system proteins and also tumor ? destroying cells. According to the lead researcher Wei ? Zen Wei, a professor of immunology and microbiology at the Karmanos Cancer Institute, the vaccine is made by using so ? called naked DNA from genes that produces the HER2 receptor. This DNA is put along with an immune stimulant. The process involved in the making of the vaccine, is called as electroporation. In this process, pulses of electricity were used in order to inject the vaccine into the leg muscles in mice. The genes moved towards the cells, which then produced HER2 receptors that led to activation of antibodies and immune cells called Killer T cells. This vaccine is unique and much more research will be further required so that it can one day be applicable towards humans for treating breast cancer.…

Important Tips For Early Detection Of Cancer

Beating cancer involves a lot more than luck and medical treatment. The effort exerted by a cancer sufferer for his or her own sake has a lot to do with the ultimate success of a treatment program. Gathering useful information is a vital part of making those efforts pay off. This article presents a few helpful tips on dealing with cancer.

If you find blood in your urine or stool, it is very important that you see a doctor right away. Blood in the urine could indicate bladder cancer while blood in your stool could be a sign of colon or rectal cancer. Both of these cancers have higher survival rates when treated in its early stages.

If you are battling cancer, it can be helpful to join a support group for your type of cancer or cancer in general. Talking to others in your situation can help you feel less alone and give you a chance to make new friends. Mutual support can be very important on the journey to recovery.

Never allow for the possible insurance implications to deter you from seeking better help with your cancer. Money should be the last thing on your mind here, and there are multiple hospitals and treatment centers out there that will give you full care despite your particular insurance situation. Find them.

Although it sounds like a pointless tip, one of the best things you can do with cancer is to keep your spirits up. Being in low spirits and not being able to motivate yourself to get healthy is just one way that cancer can spread and dominate your life. There’s always a possibility of getting better, even in dire cases.

Start a journal. Sit down each evening and spend a few times expressing your thoughts and feelings in a private journal. Write poetry if it helps you to get these feelings out. Letting them out, even if nobody else knows them, is going to help you cope with this tough situation.

Cancer

If your cancer treatments are limiting your mobility, begin sleeping in a bedroom with easy access to a bathroom. You do not want to hurt yourself trying to get to a bathroom that is too far away or too difficult to enter. You may also want to consider making a few modifications to the bathroom, including installing a handrail.

Tumor

Certain types of fungus you eat can actually help you to prevent cancer, like the Maitake mushroom. According to research conducted by Dr. Well, a famous cancer physician and researcher, extract of the Maitake mushroom completely eliminated tumors in over 40% of all animals tested and shrunk tumor size in the other 60%.

Cancer Cure

Watch out for cancer treatment scams. After being diagnosed with cancer, you may feel desperate to try any treatment you can find. However, you should be careful and fully research any treatment method you are considering. If a cancer “cure” sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Discuss and research the treatment with a reputable natural doctor and stay away from government agencies before deciding on any treatment.

Heart Disease

Doctors and the general public at large have long known that red wine can help fight against heart disease, but more people are now finding out that wine can also help work against contracting cancer. The polyphenols in wine (like those found in grapes) help to neutralize and eliminate dangerous free radicals.

Nobody overcomes cancer easily. The treatment process is arduous for every sufferer. However, every sufferer can do his or her part to make the process easier too. There are a lot more good tips waiting out there for the proactive patient eager to get a leg up on the fight against cancer.

If you decide not to go with standred treatments that mostly cause pain and little success, try a natural route. Two good books are, the China Study and Knockout, they are very good.…

Reducing Breast Cancer Risk

Research from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine found that black cohosh/Remifemin can lower the risk of breast cancer by as much as 60 percent.

Researchers looked for correlations between dietary supplement usage and the incidence of breast cancer, comparing products including phytoestrogens, isoflavones, red clover, soy, black cohosh and others.

Fifteen out of 17 supplements produced no significant results. But women using black cohosh/Remifemin had a much lower risk of developing breast cancer than did women who didn’t use it.

Proprietary Remifemin, the world’s most researched black cohosh extract, is considered safe for women who should not take estrogen.…

Can The Stilbenoids Really Fight Cancer?

The stilbenoids are a group of 2 phytonutrients (health boosting, plant based chemical compounds) – pterostilbene and resveratrol. They have been linked with cancer prevention, a reduced risk of heart disease and more. But just how valid are these claims? In this article I take a deeper look at these 2 stilbenoids and examine whether they really do live up to all the hype.

1) PTEROSTILBENE:

Pterostilbene can be mainly found in blueberries and grapes. It is a potent antioxidant that can keep your body’s cells safe from free radicals (harmful by-products that are released during oxygen related reactions).

Early evidence indicates that this stilbenoid may also act as an anti-inflammatory (a substance that prevents unnecessary inflammation in your body), prevent cancer (a disease where your body’s cells start to grow in a rapid, out of control way) and protect you from diabetes (a disease where your blood glucose levels become extremely high). In addition to this, pterostilbene may reduce your heart disease risk by lowering blood levels of low density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol (a type of cholesterol that blocks your artery walls and increases your heart disease risk) and triglycerides (a type of fat that can increase your heart disease risk if blood levels become too high).

2) RESVERATROL:

Resveratrol can be found in grapes and red wine. Red grapes contain up to 0.78 milligrams (mg) of this natural nutrient per 100 grams (g) whilst red wine contains up to 0.71 milligrams (mg) of this natural nutrient per 100 millilitres (ml).

When it comes to health benefits, resveratrol is very promising. Research has revealed that it is a powerful antioxidant. Provisional research suggests that this stilbenoid may also act as an anti-inflammatory, prevent Alzheimer’s disease (a mental disorder which causes problems with memory, thought and speech), prevent cancer and prevent diabetes. In addition to this, it may reduce your risk of developing heart disease by preventing atherosclerosis (a condition where hard plaques form in your artery walls and restrict the flow of blood) and reducing blood levels of LDL cholesterol.

SUMMARY:

There is still a lot of research to be done on these plant based nutrients. Whilst the early signs are very promising, it is important to remember that none of these health benefits have been confirmed. The stilbenoid rich foods listed in this article are all foods that should be included as part of a healthy balanced diet (just go easy on the red wine). Just make sure you do not spend any of your hard earned cash on stilbenoid supplements until further research has been completed.…

Is There a Connection Between Vitamin D and Breast Cancer?

Breast cancer is the most common cancer of women in the Western world. Many factors contribute to cause a malignant tumor of the breast (it is multifactorial), although heredity is an important issue. Some diets help prevent it, such as diets rich in fruits and vegetables and low in fat. Adequate calcium intake is very important. The role of vitamin D in the deterrence and management of breast cancer are extensively explored by researchers and the results have been promising so far.
No matter what cancer you have, or are trying to prevent, the question is: is cancer left to vitamin D deficiency? Current research shows that a solution to this question is no, women with breast cancer should not meet the expense of to vitamin D deficiency, nor their doctors.
Vitamin D and Breast Cancer: Not a Panacea
If you have breast cancer, please remember that vitamin D is not a panacea and should never be used as the main treatment for cancer. Your oncologist will prescribe a treatment that has proved effective and should carefully follow their advice as the mainstay of treatment. At the same time, you should know that the evidence suggests that adequate vitamin D can help in the fight against the cancer.
Vitamin D and Breast Cancer: Fight against Breast Cancer
Contemporary research indicates that most if not all, women have their vitamin D receptor, except if they were deficient in vitamin D, ie, they have these receptors if they were full of vitamin D. It appears that the receptor is present in breast tissue, where the most active form of vitamin D were present, and this is only true if vitamin D in the form of less-active, calcidiol, were present. In other words, if you are testing vitamin D in breast cancer patients for vitamin D receptors, they will not have much if you treat their disability, they will probably develop these receptors.
Not only calcitriol (a form from the optimal amounts of your body when your vitamin D in blood is ideal) inhibits breast cancer cells to grow, making these cells grow and die as natural cells. In addition, vitamin D inhibits the formation of the large blood vessel growth around the tumor, a progression called anti-angiogenesis.
The first modern connection with cancer and vitamin D is due to an interesting observation was made during the 1930’s. The observation was that people who have spent years in the sun (and later developed a relatively mild form of skin cancer called squamous cell cancer of the skin) were less likely to develop deadly internal cancers such as colon cancer, breast cancer and prostate cancer. This led to early modern theories of cancer, namely that squamous cell skin confers immunity against the most deadly forms of cancer.…

Most Common Types of Cancer – Kidney Cancer

India as everyone knows is on its way of becoming a hot spot for attaining Medical Treatment. It is matter of only a few years when people from almost all the countries will travel to India to get treatment for various ailments. There are various hospitals in India which provides a widespread list of treatment and surgery options which includes Endocrinology, Skin & Laser Treatment, Obstetrics & Gynecology Dentistry, Infertility Treatment, Geriatrics, Cardiology, Neurosurgery, Gastro-Intestinal Disorder, Urology, Abdominal Surgery, Colorectal Surgery, Total Joint Replacement, Hip and Knee Replacement Surgery, Transplantation, Kidney Stone Surgery and much more.

Kidneys are two bean-shaped organs with various important biological rules. The kidneys are located at the back of the abdomen. The main functions of kidneys are balance of the body fluids by filtering the bloods, production of the hormone erythropoietin, etc. The kidneys have two parts- the outer region namely cortex, inner region namely renal pelvis. Both parts have separate functions. Cancer develops in these two parts of kidney is called kidney cancer. Unlike any cancer, the tumors of the kidney cancer are also divided as benign and malignant cancer. The benign tumors are not life threatening as it has no invasion and spreading power to other parts of the body. But the malignant tumor has invasion power and it spreads to other parts of the body. So when the cells develop abnormally in the cortex and renal pelvis of the kidneys is called kidney cancer.

Types of Kidney Cancer :

The types of kidney cancer are categorized according to the nature of the cancer cells. The types are clinically categorized as :

Renal cell carcinomas : The most common type of cancer that develops in the cortex layer. It is an aggressive tumor with invasion and spreading power.Transitional Cell Carcinoma : The second common type of kidney cancer and it develops in the renal ‘s Tumor : It is called nephroblastoma and it happens in the children in the age of 2 to 4.

The other types of kidney cancer are :

Chromophilic,Chromophobic,Oncocytic, andCollecting duct cancers

The risk factors of kidney cancer are smoking, those of who having family history of kidney cancer, less-proven risk factors such as-obesity (especially in women), analgesic abuse, high blood pressure, and several uncommon hereditary diseases, including von Hippel-Lindau disease and polycystic kidney disease.

Sign & Symptoms

Blood in the urine (urine slightly rusty to deep red)Pain in the side that does not go awayA lump or mass in the side or the abdomenWeight lossFeverFeeling very tired or having a general feeling of poor health

Most often, these symptoms do not mean cancer. An infection, a cyst, or another problem also can cause similar symptoms. A person with any of these symptoms should see a doctor so that the problem can be diagnosed and treated as early as possible.

Kidney Cancer Treatment in India

The treatment of kidney cancer depends on the stage of the cancer. Understanding the stage helps physicians to administer the type of the treatment. The treatments of kidney cancer are surgical (which is called nephrectomy), radiotherapy, chemotherapy and immunotherapy. There are two types of immunotherapy — antibody therapy and cancer vaccines.

The main treatment is surgery, if the tumor is local. When only a part of the kidney is affected by the tumor the treatment is focused on that part, but if the tumor is too extended or located inside the organ, the entire kidney has to be removed, and sometimes the adrenal gland and closer lymph nodes too. If only one kidney is removed, you can continue to live normally, the remnant healthy kidney will be sufficient to assure the function of filter. If both kidneys are removed, dialysis sessions are done until the receipt of kidney transplant.

If there are metastases, only surgery is insufficient. Usually, chemotherapy or radiotherapy is used, but kidney cancer is not sensitive to these treatments so they are ineffective in this case. New treatments called anti-angiogenic drugs are used for this cancer. They act by inhibiting the development of blood vessels that “feed” the tumor. If the blood cannot reach the tumor, it cannot grow anymore.

Technology used for Treating Kidney Cancer

Advanced technology has made it possible both to detect kidney cancer earlier and devise the best treatment options. Multiple imaging tools, including intravenous pyelogram (IVP), ultrasound, computerized tomography (CT) scans, and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), provide very detailed images of the kidney, uncovering masses and allowing physicians to precisely tailor treatment options and recommendations.

Kidney Cancer surgery can be very painful one if not done properly owning to the delicate nature of the treatment. But getting the Medical Treatment done in India is one way to ensure that your loved ones have to go minimum pain and stress. The hospital staff at We Care India …
