Vitamins And Minerals For Your Bones And Teeth

Did you know that a lot of the body’s calcium is stored inside bones? As much as 90 percent of calcium is stored inside your bones. Other than calcium, phosphorus is the next most abundant mineral in our bodies. But these 2 minerals need and depend on vitamin D to move or transport them (calcium and phosphorus) to the bones from the intestines. Vitamin D also helps to absorb the calcium in the kidneys before excretion.
There 3 vitamins and minerals have to work hand in hand together to create stronger bones and teeth.
Calcium
All bones need calcium. Calcium is also very essential for other functions in your body like regulating your heartbeat, forming blood clots, help muscle contract and help the nerves to function. Calcium level also needs to be stable in your body to work properly. This is why too little or too much calcium is not good.
Hypocalcemia(too little calcium): This happens when you have low levels of calcium in your body. If calcium is too little, you will experience muscle spasms, cramps, heart irregularities, stomach cramps and pains. What happens if you don’t have enough calcium? Your body takes it directly from the storage, your bones! Therefore, you have to replace your calcium by consuming dairy products, green vegetables and eggs.
Hypercalcemia: (too much calcium): If there is too much calcium and phosphorus in your blood, in can cause your organs to function improperly and become damaged. Large calcium intakes can also reduce zinc and iron absorption and impair vitamin K metabolism. It can even cause you to have a heart failure.
Phosphorus
Like calcium, phosphorus is also used to contract muscles, build and repair bones and teeth. Phosphorus also helps the nerves to function properly. 85 percent of phosphorus can be found in your bones. The remaining 15 percent is stored in tissues in your body. Where to get phosphorus? You can consume meat, nuts and dairy products. Again, your kidney helps control the level of phosphorus in your blood. Extra or excessive phosphorus is filtered out in the urine. One more thing about phosphorus, it can affect the level of calcium in your blood too.
Vitamin D
Without vitamin D, having the best amount of calcium or phosphorus won’t help at all. Your body, specifically the skin makes the most amount of vitamin D. Only a small portion of vitamin D comes from food. Vitamin D actually controls the amount of calcium that is absorbed in your body.…

What Are Uterine Cancer Symptoms And Risk Factors?

Having uterine cancer can pose many secondary complications and can totally alter a woman’s life, therefore this must not be taken for granted in the slightest bit. In the event you believe that you have any uterine cancer symptoms, you must not think twice to refer with your physician immediately. Yes, there may be times that uterine cancer symptoms might occur from various other conditions nonetheless; it will always be better safe than sorry.

Out of all the uterine cancer symptoms, probably the most usual would be the unusual vaginal bleeding at the start of menopausal stage.

The most typical uterine cancer symptoms you should know of are the following:

Risk Factors for Uterine Cancer

Up to now, there hasn’t been identified any distinct cause of uterine cancer. However, scientific studies have determined that the onset of uterine cancer may be prompted by certain risk factors. Those predisposing factors are as follows:

What Happens in Uterine Cancer

Uterine cancer happens while the endometrium, which is the uterus’ lining thickens and begins to shed monthly. This is actually the menstrual cycle that women experiences every month. On the other hand, in a woman that has uterine cancer, the builds up of endometrium stays permanently in the uterus and doesn’t shed off. This condition is usually referred to as hyperplasia. This is the “pre-cancer” stage wherein cells develop rapidly and go out of control. These rapidly-growing cells are cancer cells.

Since these cancerous cells multiply in a fast-paced manner, the end result is often the formation of a tissue mass. Most of the tissue mass invades the uterus through the vagina and cervix as part of unusual bleeding. The abnormal bleeding happens in 85% of postmenopausal females who are diagnosed with endometrial cancer.

When the endometrial cancer is ignored and left with no treatment, the growth of cancerous cells can travel to the deep layers of connective tissues around the uterus. The cancer cells can spread into the pelvic lymph nodes along with other organs in the pelvic region as the cancer progresses. The advanced stage of uterine cancer can metastasize passing from the lymph nodes to various parts of the body such as the lungs, brain, bones, liver and vagina.

The cancer stage has the most significant impact on the success of uterine cancer treatment. The stage of the cancer is something that no other than your medical doctors can tell you right after diagnosing you properly. Thus early diagnosis of uterine cancer symptoms is very important as it can directly affect your prognosis and chances of survival.…

No-Lye Hair Relaxers Review

While flat irons can often suffice, some women decide to use chemical hair straighteners for a more permanent, longer lasting result. Others just visit a salon for a Brazilian keratin treatment or Japanese hair straightening treatment and in just a few hours, achieve straight and sleek hair. However, there are also products available that make permanently straight hair possible in a convenient at-home treatment that takes a fraction of the time it takes for a salon treatment, hair relaxers.
Relaxers can be broken down into two main groups, lye hair relaxers and and no lye relaxers. Lye hair relaxers are stronger and used Sodium Hydroxide to break down curl and wave patterns in the innermost parts of the hair producing great results. Unfortunately, Sodium Hydroxide is very powerful and the hair’s integrity can become compromised sometimes causing damage, producing straight hair, that is weaker and more susceptible to breakage. Even though Lye hair relaxers should be used with caution, they have been used safely and effectively by many for a number of years. The main things to keep in mind are to stay away from excessive heat styling or anything else that can cause additional damage to the hair.
No-Lye relaxers use guanidine hydroxide to straighten the hair. Gianidine hydroxide is also a strong chemical that works from the inside of the hair to break down curl, however, it is said to be less irritating to the skin and scalp, and more gentle on hair. No-lye hair relaxers are recommended for anyone with especially sensitive skin or scalp. No-lye relaxers do tend to leave the hair a little more dry,so it is best to follow with a deep conditioner or moisture treatment and repeat for a few weeks after.
Hawaiian Silky No-Lye Relaxer is a great relaxer for those choosing the no-lye relaxer option. Formulated with Jojoba and Mink oils, this no-lye relaxer moisturizes and nourishes the hair while coating it with a protective barrier to reduce damage and dryness during the chemical process and afterward. Hair is left feeling smooth and silky and incredibly straight. Hawaiian Silky No-Lye Hair Relaxer comes in Mild, Regular, and Super formulas so any hair type can be straightened with ease. Hawaiian Silky specializes in products for ethnic or extremely coarse and curly hair. Their hair relaxers and treatment products work wonders on very resistant and hard to manage hair types.
Just as those with fine, straight hair spend endless time and money trying to create curl and volume, those blessed with volume an texture often want to reduce it. Luckily this can be done quickly and easily in the comfort of one’s home. In just about 30 minutes or less, hair can be permanently straightened and smoothed with minimal irritation to the scalp or skin with a no-lye hair relaxer.…

Supplements – Effectiveness, Risk, and the Benefits of Another Alternative

The billion dollar industry that nearly everyone has been turning to in order to keep them healthy is the supplement industry. Just think about it; all most everywhere you can go in America you are likely to find a GNC, a Vitamin World or at least one aisle in pharmacies and grocery shops that is dedicated to displaying these “magical tablets.” It’s amazing; there are thousands of supplements that are used for an uncountable amount of reasons. The most common reasons that I find are weight loss pills, daily vitamins, and muscle building supplements for men who want to “bulk up.” The problem with these vitamins is that they are not USDA regulated and are often not tested, and if they are tested who is publishing the results and conducting the studies? Usually the company who made the product of course. Therefore, it only makes sense that they would publish positive results.
So how do you know if they are really working? When you begin to take a daily vitamin supplement do you notice a difference in your overall health? Most likely that answer is no and more no, but people keep on taking them anyway because they assume that they are working when in reality chances are; they aren’t. Hmmm… So now you see our problem.
Let’s first take a look at how supplements are made. The vitamins and nutrients are extracted from their original sources and are then processed and packaged into, tablets, powders, and gels, etc. During this procession the nutrients are modified and killed. When the vitamins are in their original food sources, they are a living part of a living organism that actively help that organism thrive. Once you separate the vitamin from the organism, both the vitamin and the organism die because neither is sustainable without the other. An organism is a perfectly balanced ecosystem that requires regularity and must be complete in order to live.
This is similar to the way in which a person becomes weak when they lose a lot of blood. So basically what I am hinting at here is that despite the fact that you are ingesting vitamins, they are usually not all that useful and will be expelled from the body as opposed to being absorbed without much harm or help. This is evident in the trend of middle aged women taking calcium supplements, studies show that women who take the supplements are no better off than those who do not according to doctor Neal Barnard, founder of the nonprofit organization called the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine based in Washington D.C. which concentrates on how diet affects the body.
Another factor that most people don’t consider is the safety of taking supplements. Since their production is not strictly regulated they are likely to contain ingredients that are actually harmful for our bodies. These include metabolic steroids, mercury (in fish oil), metals, and other indigestible metals. Also studies of individual supplements reported in the New York Times article titled, “Personal Health, Potential Harm in Dietary Supplements,” by Jane E. Brody on April 8th, 2008 show the harmful effects/ineffectiveness of supplements by stating: “observational studies of people who eat foods rich in antioxidants like vitamins A and E and beta-carotene have suggested these substances improve health.
But well-designed clinical trials found increased death rates among people who take them as supplements. And while low vitamin C doses can suppress harmful free radicals, very high doses promote their formation. The initial promise that vitamin E could protect against heart attacks and cancer failed to stand up to scientific scrutiny, which instead found that it increased the risk of heart failure.” Also, people do not consider supplements with the same respect that they do for medications and commonly forget to mention them to their doctors upon being asked what medications they are taking. It is often possible for the supplements to react with new medications or surgeries being preformed which can be harmful to the body.
Although usually these interactions are not deadly, in some cases they can be. Another harmful ingredient that was being legally included in weight loss supplements was ephedra, which was recently found to be deadly. Other weight loss supplements contain large amounts of caffeine which increases the heart rate and blood pressure dangerously and can lead to increased levels of anxiety in those who are prone to being anxious. These examples are just a few of many, a simple web search will bring up endless credible accounts of the ineffectiveness and risks that are associated with supplements.
Since taking supplements is not very effective in most cases, we must turn to our only other option, and frankly the more valuable option: FOOD! The truth is simply that we should be receiving our daily dose of vitamins …
